S.I.RA.C.U.S.A. Project: A Step Forward in Enhancing Services for Foreigners

Launching of a significant project funded by European Fund for Asylum Migration and Integration aimed at enhancing services for foreigners.

On July 1st, the S.I.RA.C.U.S.A. Project (Integrated and Reinforcing Services to Enhance the Skills of the Offices for Foreigners in Syracuse) - PROG-1017, funded by the European Fund for Asylum Migration and Integration (FAMI) 2024-2027, was launched. The project, presented by the Prefecture of Syracuse, was admitted for funding by a decree of the Ministry of the Interior on March 12th for a total amount of €482,092.78.

Project Objectives

With a duration of 18 months, the project aims to enhance the network of territorial services aimed at third-country nationals, raising quality standards for all involved operators, both public and private. The goal is to improve performance and reduce the time of service delivery.

Thematic Areas and Specific Actions

In line with the strategic objectives defined in the Territorial Council for Immigration and included in the Territorial Plan of Interventions, the project will develop specific actions in the areas of governance and reception, social inclusion, and prevention and combating of phenomena such as labor exploitation and illegal hiring practices.

Implementation of Best Practices

During the project activities, best practices in the management of reception and integration of non-EU citizens residing in the province of Syracuse will be implemented. These practices will be formalized in local Guidelines to support the operators of the reception network.

Prefect Raffaela Moscarella emphasized that "The funding will allow us to implement significant actions to build an increasingly inclusive society, where welcomed foreigners can recognize themselves and find opportunities to capitalize on their resources".
